Reading Project Links

The purpose of this Internet project is to increase Reading Literacy.  The first graders will read books by Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss.  The students will explore the two Internet links to learn about each author.  The students will tell each other what they liked or disliked about the books (s) they read.  With the help of the teacher they can e-mail the author(s) their thoughts. 

Classroom and Technology Management:

In our school we have a lab with 25 computer with Internet access.  We will buddy up with the 8th grade students to assist students with the initial browsing of the sites.  Once the first graders are familiar with the sites, they will be able to browse independently.

Learning Objectives:

1. Students will read books from selected authors.

2. Students will extend knowledge of spelling through writing.

3. Students will learn by reading, listening and writing.

4. Students will understand that the Internet is a good learning tool.

5. Students with the assistance of the teacher will continue to search the Internet for more age appropriate author sites.
